Twenty five years of marriage! Where did it go?

On June 23, 1990, I married my best friend. This year we celebrated our 25th anniversary, looking back, I can’t believe it’s been 25 years!

This year we drove down to the spot we got married at and spent the day remembering anniversaries from the past. We walked in the garden where we got married, saw the view of the ocean, and the room where we had our reception. The thing that amazed me was how little had changed at the hotel we got married in! Basically, the name had changed and a few decorations, but overall, it looked the same! Too bad the same couldn’t be said for us!

We ended up staying at this campground near by, and I’ve got to tell you, we got lucky. We got there when the place was closed, and saw the night check-in board but it didn’t have the nightly rate posted and a gentlemen happened to be walking by that look like he may know, so I asked.  He said, “Let me ask.” Turned out his brother was the manager, but when he said, “I think it’s about $75/night.” I told him never mind and our budget was $50/night. He insisted on asking anyway. I had mentioned it was our 25th and I think that had an effect, because the manager said, “We can make $50 work!” We were ecstatic! The place was beautiful and a great place to spend the night. So I made my wife some Crab Meat Pan Roast and we had a nice dinner in the rig.

I will say that, even though there have been bumps in the road, we’ve both put on a few pounds and added some wrinkles, she keeps getting more and more beautiful. I am still falling in love with her. We continue to get closer and really enjoy each others company.

Since then, our family has grown, we have our two kids and now two “kid-in-law’s and six grandkids! We love spending time with the grandbabies and enjoy time with our kids as adults. No longer yelling, “Not in the house!” or, “Stop picking on your sibling!!!” We get to see them being fantastic parents and raising some great grandkids.

I look forward to another twenty five years with you, Babydoll!
